Not Now Lord

Our lives are so very busy, and I'm not sure whether it is this way because of the times in which we live, or because I am getting older, and time just seems to go zipping by me.

It is so easy to say, "not now Lord," and assume we will have more time in the future.  Of course, we all know that life is very fragile, and none of knows when he/she may die.

There is so much to learn about our Lord Jesus, His Word, and His will for our lives.  With this in mind, we need to get started as soon as possible.  By that I mean when we are young, or at the time we become Christians.

As we all know, our learning capabilities are at their peak when we are at a young age; we absorb more and learn easier and faster.  If we begin when we are young, we will acquire a vast understanding of Christian principles to use as tools in our daily walk with God.

As Christians, God gives us many commands:  baptism, church attendance, reading His Word, witnessing to others, giving thanks, and praising God, just to name a few.  These commandments could keep us busy full time.

Those of us with families and/or careers have so many responsibilities that sometimes we find it easy to say, "not now Lord."

However, life passes so quickly.  In Psalm 103:15-16, God's Word says, "As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more."

I would encourage each of you to place a priority on "being about God's business."  Please don't say, "not now Lord."  If we put God first, He will take care of the rest.  Remember, there is so much to learn, so much to do, and so little time!!!
