Perfect Love

Love has always been, it seems,

From Adam to the now,

Boy loves girl,

Man loves dog,

Love is just there, but how?

Love began with God;

He created man to be

Someone for Him to love,

Folks like you and me.

Love is a mysterious emotion,

I have not the words to express,

The feelings deep inside

enthrall me I must confess.

Love can make you happy,

It can also make you sad,

Love can make you giggle,

like a young girl or lad.

Love fills our hearts, and so we sing,

Our hearts burst to be free,

Like the dawning of a new day,

Or the essence of sun-drenched tea.

There is a love that brings sorrow,

  Wounds go very deep,

The soul sinks in deep despair,

An aching heart bids us weep.

We hunger for a perfect love

To balance our emotions,

Temper fury into peace,

Transform sadness into cheer.

That perfect love is God's love,

Awesome, genuine and pure,

Surrender all, abide in Him,

 His love embraces, forever secure.
