The Beating of a Heart

The beating of a heart,

alone and full of sorrow,

will leave us devastated,

with no longing for tomorrow.

God hears us when we call,

and cry out with our pain,

He longs to fill the space,

like dew after the rain.

We balk, we hide, we fear,

Won't let the Savior in,

We push His love away,

 Forgetting where we've been.

 Ultimately we realize

that life is not a game,

When God leads the way,

Real life we have to gain.

The beating of a heart

In tune with the Savior,

Is love overflowing,

Never to depart.
