God Promises Peace

Peace, wonderful peace--isn't that what we all long for?  Each of us looks for peace in different ways, some through money, power, and position in their job.  Many seek peace in material possessions.  Some seek peace by trying to achieve perfection in all aspects of their lives.  Perfection simply does not exist in this world.  Others seek peace by being "religious."  Going to church is very admirable, but it does not make one a Christian.

Certainly, it is fine to have material possessions, which, by the way are graciously given to us by our loving Father.  In 1 Samuel 2:7, God says "The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts."  So everything we are and all that we possess is given to us by God.  However, these material possessions do not bring real peace.

Real peace comes by having a personal relationship with God.  This is called peace with God.  Then there is the peace of God.  This peace travels with you daily and sustains you when the road gets rough.

Promises from God's Word

When we become Christians, we are justified.  Romans 5:1 says, "Since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you."

In Philippians 4:6-7, God's Word says, "In everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  What an awesome promise!

Proverbs 16:7 says "When a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him."  I have read this verse many times, but just recently it hit me what an impact this could have if everyone's ways were pleasing to God. This could certainly affect our world situation in regards to terrorists warfare.  I hope this gives my readers something to think about.  Remember, everyone begins with one.

Peace for all times...this is what you can have with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
